Joshua Jones, a dedicated higher education professional with a wealth of knowledge and experience, has been appointed as the new assistant vice president for alumni engagement at the University of North Texas.
“As I begin my new role at the University of North Texas, I am humbled and thrilled to lead the UNT Alumni Association and its incredible team,” says Jones. “I look forward to uniting our UNT community in order to amplify our impact and drive North Texas forward.”
Jones joins UNT after most recently serving as the senior director of alumni advancement at the University of Memphis. He previously served as the director of alumni relations at the University of South Carolina Upstate and held progressive roles at institutions like the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, Ohio University and Long Beach State University.
“In the journey to choose the next leader of the UNT Alumni Association, I was struck by Joshua’s energy, passion, care and strategic leadership,” says Brandon Buzbee, vice president for University Advancement. “I believe that under his guidance, the organization will strengthen its connection with alumni, fostering a stronger community bond and broadening avenues for social and intellectual engagement.”
Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Hampton University, two master's degrees from Ohio University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education in higher and adult education at the University of Memphis.
Jones says he is dedicated to enhancing alumni engagement and creating an environment that welcomes everyone.
“I am committed to building transformative triumphs and supporting UNT alumni as lifelong advocates for Mean Green pride,” Jones says. “With unwavering dedication, I aspire to build a dynamic and inclusive network where every alum can contribute to a future where our bonds grow stronger, our achievements become legendary and our UNT family stands united. The possibilities are limitless, proving that the Mean Green spirit knows no bounds.”
Jones is relocating to Texas with the support of his loving wife, Arlesia, and their three children: Lennox, Nova and Zion. Jones says the family is thrilled to experience this exciting new chapter in their lives together. When they are not racing from one activity to the next, the self-proclaimed family of foodies is always searching for the best places to find sweets and great barbecue. They look forward to celebrating UNT‘s successes and establishing meaningful connections with the entire UNT community.
