UNT has implemented a new gift allocation policy, UNT Policy 09.003 Gift Allocation, designed to maximize the impact of your giving.
Under this policy, 95% of each non-endowed gift directly supports the program, scholarship or initiative you choose. The remaining 5% will be allocated as unrestricted to be used to strengthen university-wide priorities — ensuring UNT can continue advancing its mission through strategic initiatives, innovation and stewardship of donor support.
The policy was adopted September 1, 2025, and will take effect November 1, 2025. Thank you for helping UNT grow and sustain a culture of philanthropy that benefits every student.
The policy was formally adopted on September 1, 2025. Implementation begins November 1, 2025.
For each non-endowed gift, up to 95% may be restricted to the program, scholarship, or initiative you designate. A small portion (5%) will remain unrestricted to support for the university’s overall ability to serve students and fulfill its mission through a fund held at the UNT Foundation.
Example: A $1,000 gift to a scholarship will direct $950 to that scholarship, while $50 supports UNT’s ongoing efforts to expand access, improve programs, and sustain advancement activities. Your receipt will reflect the full $1,000 gift amount.
Yes. This policy applies only to non-endowed gifts. The allocation will also not apply to documented gift pledges and subsequent pledge payments executed before September 1, 2025.
