Betheny L. Reid, former Dallas County Community College District associate vice chancellor of development and president of the DCCCD Foundation Inc., has been named senior associate vice president and capital campaign manager at the University of North Texas.
UNT will soon enter the public phase of its comprehensive capital campaign. Reid will help develop, coordinate and implement initiatives to ensure the success of the campaign. The campaign will conclude in 2015 marking the 125th anniversary of the university. She will report to the vice president for advancement as a member of the leadership team.
“Betheny’s outstanding experience in academic fundraising in the North Texas region will be a major asset for UNT as we launch the public phase of our campaign,” said Michael Monticino, UNT vice president for advancement. “I am looking forward to working with Betheny in supporting UNT’s mission of educational excellence for our students and advancing the North Texas region.”
During her 14-year tenure with DCCCD, Reid raised more than $80 million for the district and was named Foundation Executive of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, an international association serving educational institutions.
“Every day, I meet another person who has graduated from UNT,” said Reid. “That makes me realize how important the university has been in developing the North Texas region, and beyond. I'm so happy that I will now be part of this great tradition."
Prior to being named associate vice chancellor of development and president of the DCCCD Foundation in 2008, Reid served as chief development officer/executive director of the DCCCD Foundation Inc., and executive director of the foundation. Reid also served as president of the West End Association, a Dallas-based group working to enhance the working environment for property owners and companies in the high-profile, economic development, entertainment and historic district of downtown Dallas.
